Laddawn.com : Functional Spec - Expand Sales Order and Work Order Number field lengths and justifications.

Please alter all Avante screens and reports to recognize and enhanced format for Sales Order Numbers and Work Order numbers.  This task will involve searching for processes that need to change and a making changes to those that do.

Sales Order number format will change from 6-digit numeric to 8-digit alphanumeric.   Generally speaking the changes will be made according to the following rules:

  • Identify fields/columns that need to change.
  • When the field length is less than 8 it should be changed to a length of 8.
  • When necessary the field should be changed from Numeric to Alphanumeric.
  • When necessary the field should be changed from left to right justified (this will be necessary when the report is sorted by order number).
  • You can change the  standard dictionary when it needs to be changed and then test all functions that use this dictionary.  Find the processes that use this dictionary using the SB+ Where Used process.   Note: do not bother to test any processes that Laddawn does not use - as identified by the analysis spreadsheet.
  • When the field length needs to be increased use free space on the screen or report.
  • When the field length needs to be increased and there is no available space, steal from a first field that is excessive in length.   If there are no fields with excessive length we should discuss the best place to steal the space from.

Work Order number format will change from 7-digit to 9-digit alphanumeric.   Generally speaking the changes will will be made according to the following rules:

  • Identify fields/columns that need to change.
  • When the field length is less than is less than 9 it should be changed to a length of 9.
  • You can change the  standard dictionary when it needs to be changed and then test all functions that use this dictionary.  Find the processes that use this dictionary using the SB+ Where Used process.   Note: do not bother to test any processes that Laddawn does not use - as identified by the analysis spreadsheet.
  • When the field length needs to be increased, use free space on the screen or report.
  • When the field length needs to be increased and there is no available space, steal from a first field that is excessive in length.   If there are no other fields with excessive length we should discuss the best place to steal the space from.

Note:

  • The attached spreadsheet holds the list of processes that will be affected as well as other processes that won't be affected.

  • In the DEV.DATA area the following can be used for testing out some on the functionality in question.  These items can be used to test the various processes that need be tested.
    • CUSTMST 01*900000
    • SOHDR 1039029A
    • WIP C1039029A
    • SOHDR 1039042A
    • ITMMST 000520
    • PLANORD exists for Item 000520

  • Make sure to test all changes in GUI.  Make sure to REGEN.GUI first.
