1 Introduction
One of Laddawn's key attractions - offering low minimum order quantities - means that in our current design, which highlights the unit price based on minimum quantity, we may appear less competitive on price than competitors with higher minimums. This problem will become more pressing when we reduce minimum order quantities for Marketplace categories.
Goals
- Become more competitive and increase sales by presenting our best pricing, and increasing visibility of quantity price discounts, while not concealing our attractive low minimums.
Solution and scope
The new functionality will apply to both MOD and stock.
- We discussed and designed a version with more extensive layout changes, such as streamlined quantity and count/case fields; different positioning of product headline relative to thumbnail, etc. but opted instead to take a more incremental approach.
- We also considered more tightly integrating stock and MTO results, but tabled that indefinitely.
2 Definitions
MOQ = minimum order quantity.
Price breaks - for Laddawn-made items, they are linear; for Marketplace items, they are stepped.
MTO - "made to order" - the made on demand version of stock items; enables customers to purchase stock sizes at a discount, with a higher volume/longer lead time.
3 User Interaction and Design
Functionality changes:
- Do not default to a quantity for MODs. Instead display MOQ as watermark in quantity field. For stock, do not default to a quantity of 1 case/roll; no MOQ watermark needed.
- Exception for stock: Customer has P1 pricing for stock. Default to 1 cs/roll.
- Display our best "as low as" price above disabled add-to-cart button.Button enables after quantity is entered. (
Save/Share also disabled until quantity is entered.8-21-18 - We reversed ourselves on this. Decided buttons should be enabled. If clicked, will save w/min quantity.)- Exception for stock: Customer has P1 pricing for stock. Just show case/roll price, without "As Low As" heading.
- Combine pallet info and price per pkg/per thous into single tooltip, accessible by more discoverable " i " icon to the right of quantity/thous.
- Shift price breaks to the add-to-cart column, with new icon.
- MOD: Price breaks will now include MOQ as first break
- The last price break will be our lowest price (we need to set new floors for our lowest prices).
- Exception for stock: Customer has P1 pricing for stock. Do not show any price breaks link.
