Content v. presentation.
Activity feed
- You ran 3 miles today
- Your order shipped
Push messaging, generic
- Hard to imagine how this content would differ from the content below the fold, but something we want to highlight above the fold?
Push messaging, targeted, specific
- Predictive ordering
Embedded two-way dialog
Initially exposed, either partially or fully
Examples to come - where simple messages are partially or fully exposed upon first encounter.
Initially hidden behind a click or a hover
The user needs to click or hover to see messages. This is a familiar pattern with social media platforms. Messages may fall into buckets; each bucket may have its own bucket or icon, or as in the case of Pinterest (third example below), there's a single icon, that when clicked, exposes messages by category.
26 messages, 1 notification, 1 connection request | Notifications exposed |
One new friend request, one new notification + 3 updates exposed below it | Notifications exposed |
One generic update icon | When expanded, updates are categorized under tabs. |
