This spring we analyzed data on sales order changes:

 Sales Order Changes (Paste Values).xlsx

Here are some takeaways from the data and the discussions we’ve had so far:

  • For CE’s purposes, it doesn’t seem like there is obvious “low hanging fruit” (things that could be put online quickly v. things that would remain in Avante, due to complexity or volume). It seems having some changes on the web, and others in Avante, would create a very confusing, disjointed workflow for them.
  • For customers it may be a different story; there may be a subset of changes we could put online for them to initiate on their own, but we need to classify which can be fully automated through to completion independent of order processing status v. those which must be requested within a specific window. There may be certain changes that fall outside the window, and would require a workflow for CE to follow up on.
  • Anthony, Tina, Paula and Amber had some feedback about changes to existing screens that could lead to fewer sales order changes and what they call “rehandles” – such as making all warehouses available in bundling (for CE only), or at least showing inventories at all warehouses; another was to provide a means of applying freight terms set for one bundle to other bundles in a master order  - this has led to many mistakes by CE and customers; the user sets freight terms for one bundle and is not realizing they have to do it to other bundles in the master order.
  • We’ve discussed at a high level where sales order changes would live on our current screens, but we haven’t decided specifically what to put online. (All, or some, for whom.)
