Laddawn.com : Setting the plate description for user-generated art

What is being described

The description has sometimes been referred to as the name. Technically, the plate's name will be system-generated: CPXXXX.  The description is an alternate name that is more descriptive of the art that is eventually going on a plate (or that can selected from "My artwork" and then modified (resized, rotated, etc.) for use on another plate, and the attributes of that art that will be fixed once it becomes a plate (size, etc.). The artwork description (and the plate name once a quote and PDF are generated, which is after sharing, saving or adding to cart) will be included in the captions for the art shown in the My Artwork tab of the art chooser:

What the description is not:

  • Since plates can be compositions of stock or customer-supplied images and text, we are not describing (naming) each individually uploaded image or block of text created. We are describing the composition of art that will be on the plate - which of course, may consist solely of one uploaded image or block of text.
  • Also, we are not describing (naming) the art composition AND its canvas - the bag or product it is going on at the time, nor are we naming the PDF that will contain the schematic (the art showing on its canvas) and plate art. The PDF name will be system generated. We are solely describing (naming) the artwork composition and all of the attributes that will be fixed once it becomes a plate.

How it will be described

In the Print Designer. Specs and design to be added here.

Questions

Do we need to allow users to change the name? Seems like something for release 2. We don't do it today.
