In detail
Settings and preferences may be determined at different levels of a sales organization (distributorship). For instance, an individual user's profile settings - password, personal contact info, avatar, etc. are a bundle of preferences that are always set at the "contact" level. However, the bill-to customers associated with each sales organization are the hub of most sales activity. Shipping preferences are associated with Bill-to and Ship-to customers. For more, see entities in detail.

For the end user (referred to as "Contacts" in Laddawn's system). Initially created by Laddawn, but after that, all fields are editable (except *'d items). | For existing contacts, this will initially be derived from the contact's Bill-to organization (or Contact address?) For new contacts, CE/CR can explain and enter the zip preferred by the Contact. Regardless, the user can change the default here. Regardless of what the default is, the user can always override it for individual searches or Carts. It might be something along these lines: |

Don't have a preferred shipping destination? Click "change" and set your preference as "blank"; you will be prompted to enter a zip code at the appropriate time. If you generally pick your orders up at your primary Laddawn Warehouse, change your default zip to: 01564 (Sterling, MA)

(2) My company & co-workers
1. My company
Name of sales organization, headquarters address. Probably not very important to majority of sales orgs, b/c bill-to and sales org are essentially one and the same. What's more, according to Tina and Meme, the sales org info is often meaningless for distributorships with multiple billl-to's - in theory it should be the headquarters, but in many cases it is often just the first bill-to org that got created for the sales org.

Your Laddawn Sales Representative:For sales orgs w/more than one bill-to, is there generally only one sales rep per sales org?

Your Billing Organization What's read-only and what's editable here for George? How do the fields below tie in with Estelle's settings as a contact? | Other Billing Organizations for Vandelay Industries Also read-only for contacts. They appear here for reference, because the contact also needs to be able to select these other bill-to's (or ship-to's associated with other bill-to's) at checkout. Q: Do we still want to allow this? If we want to allow this, then don't we want contacts to be able to include contacts from other Bill-to's in their narrative thread circles? (So that they may see communications relevant to transactions they are jointly involved in within their walled gardens.) |

All registered Laddawn users associated with George's Bill-to. We are not actively fleshing this out further at this time; we will circle back after progress made on narrative thread.

(3) Address Book & Shipping Preference
There is an average of about 2.5 shipping locations per sales organization (this figure includes Bill-to's). Only 36 Bill-to organizations have more than 10 ship-to locations. Sorting and grouping may not be terribly important for majority of customers initially, but we do want design to scale. Q: Should there be one Address Book per sales org, or a separate address book for each Bill-to organization? The specs below assume the former, but content/IA/design requirements should be roughly the same for either choice. Address Book for Vandelay Industries (Sales Org 3579) I. Need design for - Means of navigating all of the addresses associated with this Sales Org (browse and search – alpha by company or contact name; by zip; other fields TBD? CE/CR will want to use #s) II. Need content/IA/UI for the contact info and preferences for each address/record. a. See screenshots below for current content (main screen and secondary "sales info" screen) b. We need to incorporate Tina's and Meme's list of shipping/handling preferences - currently most/all? of these are "one-off" settings chosen at checkout; we want to convert them to user preferences. c. Brandit and labeling preferences - see further below d. Flag or indication that address is residential or commercial? Grouping & sort order??? One big list (sortable how?), or chunked up as follows (sortable how?):
| ||||||||||||||||
Your BrandIt™ logo [ x ] Use this logo on labels for all of my orders [ x ] Place this text on labels for all of my orders: To reorder call 978.563.6175
The process of setting up BrandIt logos is currently manual. Users fill out a Word doc and email it, with image file attachment, to customer rep, customer service, or fax it. (From there it is sent to Chris E.,who chooses from 10 templates, and then what.... How is the circle closed?) Q: Is it within the scope of this project to put Brandit Logo submissions online? If so - can any individual user with a Laddawn account upload a logo?

(5) Plate management?
(6) Future buckets
Transactional documents not covered above or in order history ?
SB (11/6) - Based on the new YMAC logic, to allow users to customize the order they see the YMAC results. It would allow them to order the results by Packaging, Closure, Gauge, Color, Materials or gusseted equivalents. We are going to hold off on this until we determine if users find it useful.
Questions for consideration
Porting existing sales organization hierarchies, profiles, contacts, etc. over to the new site with these new capabilities v. intake of new entities ranging from sales organizations down to individual contacts.
