Observer / Note Taker: Jason Burke

Scenario 1 – Split Rock Lighthouse

  • Clicked “Registered Print” right away.
  • Once “Choose Art” was selected, he was stumped at that point.
  • After he noticed, “Laddawn Artwork” – “My Artwork” – “My Computer” he toggled through each.
  • Once “My Computer” was located, he breezed through selecting the correct image and altering the image color.
  • When asked about the ‘yellow rectangle’ around the image, he understood it was a wireframe that would allow for moving and resizing of image.
  • On “Format your artwork” popup, he believed the left-most icon was to rotate the newly added artwork.

Scenario 2 – jetBlue

  • Quickly clicked on “Random Repeat”, “Choose Artwork” and selected artwork.
  • He tried changing the color of “jetBlue” to blue, because he noticed it was displaying in black color. (The mock-up / scenario, didn’t account for that) – I told him to ignore that.

Scenario 3 – Quick Quote

  • He breezed through “Quick Quote”, until he reached “Format your artwork”. He wasn’t confident at that point, not knowing if 3x3 was just a random size or if that was the largest size available.

Scenario 4 – Biohazard

  • Navigated fairly quickly, until he reached the image explorer window. He then asked, “Do I have to hit this?” – while his mouse was hovering over the “Place” button.
  • After he then figured that out, he then said – “Stock plates are easy.”

Scenario 5 – Caution: Hot Contents

  • When quoting text, he wondered if we are quoting “Dot Matrix” print or if a plate would be generated.
  • He was then asked how he would rotate the image, and he wasn’t sure.
  • After he had seen “Share” and “Download PDF” – he was asked, what do you think each of those choices would do? And he explained each one correctly.

Scenario 6 – Recycle #4

  • After he received the sample in his hands, the quote was finished within 10 seconds.

Scenario 7 – Menudo Mix

  • He was stumped when uploading a custom image. (I don’t think at that point, he clearly understood the scenario)
  • Once he realized he needed to upload an image, he navigated around fairly quickly.
  • He noticed how the colors were automatically pulled from the image.

Scenario 8 – YMCA

  • He was thrown off by the scenario, by adding multiple elements to the quote.
  • He was also stumped by “Start Here” in addition to seeing the artwork & text icons above.
  • He first clicked into “Random Repeat”. (I suspect because that’s typically used in “Random Repeat” printing) And then later realized something was wrong, and started over – this time selecting “Registered Print”.
  • After he got passed that, he then added each of the elements without issue.
  • Delay in finding the ‘color picker’.
  • He understood what an “Eye Spot” was.

Additional Information:

  • He said, “It would be easy to walk a customer through this.”
  • He loved that we can send a proof to the customer. “It’s live… When you share it,… if it’s not right – then you can redo it.”
  • He understood that change an image size, would generate a new plate.
  • Mentioned again that the three tabs to the left of the image explorer window, was hard to find.
  • He felt compelled to move an image around, but knew that he couldn’t. (Which I think led to some of the confusion on the YMCA scenario)
